- Car insurance comparison websites. Oh holy mother of god, I would like to go a day without being bombarded by 50 different adverts on TV for car insurance comparison websites. The most annoying is without doubt the adverts for 'confused.com'. What wankers they are. 'I'm totally confused.com', NO, NO YOU ARE NOT, YOU ARE CONFUSED, NOT CONFUSED.COM! Ugh. Their logo is utterly shit too. Before TV shows you get adverts from their sponsors, which is a car insurance comparison website. Tescos have their adverts saying they are the leading car insurance comparison website, not a supermarket, apparently. Other adverts are also boasting that they are the best ones and then you get car insurance company adverts saying you can't even get their quotes on car insurance comparison websites! Plus, what the hell is the point in such a thing? How hard is it to just do your own research? Are people that bloody lazy? Jesus christ. I wish they could be banned. Or at least I wish the adverts would be banned. Or just totally silent and they flick on and off in a second. Ugh.
- 'Blahblahblah was so overrated'. It annoys me when people claim that things are overrated or over hyped, etc. It mainly annoys me with films. Generally, if you're to agree with all the reviews that films dig out that are positive in order to help sell itself, all films are overrated, as usually the films aren't even good, yet somehow they've been praised. But also it's about personal opinion, not everyone will agree with every movie, but when they decide to somehow get the upper hand by saying it's overrated to seem like they know what they're talking about in some way, it's just stupid. Especially if that film is different and shows a new way of doing things, then it annoys me more as I think they need to open their mind a bit more. I will completely contradict this and say Rambo is overrated though. There is no point at all to such films being thought of, let alone made. Fucking piles of shit.
- Most people I went to school with have just graduated. I want to feel happy for them, but I just feel bitter and kick myself and that annoys me.
- The disappearance of good friday and saturday TV. It seems like a long tradition has died. Ok, so it was a tradition of being lazy and sitting on your ass even more than usual for 2 nights out of the week, but sunday TV has remained as bad as always, why can't friday and saturday remain good? :P
- How it appears that I watch too much TV. I'm a student, it's the law.
This is Charlie. He lives two doors down. He finds life quite confronting. And although he's not a cranky boy like he looks he might be, he doesn't like to be looked at and he doesn't like to look at anyone.
He likes to catch the morning sun on the roof of my car. The size is fur not fat. Every summer he has a shave as he gets all knotted up. Never mind how dirty my car is. We have strict water restrictions here so no outdoor hoses at all allowed.

See, he's a beautiful boy.
I’m making this for my cousin Mike and his wife-to-be Heather’s wedding on August 2. This is technically my first knitting project beside one fingerless glove that I practiced on. Luckily I had two great teachers- Mary from Philly and Keri from The Purple Purl in Toronto. It’s technically supposed to be made by several people, but so far so good, even though I’ve been knitting everywhere from the street car to standing in line waiting for my lunch to get it done in time. Needless to say, I didn’t pick an easy starter in terms of time, but the project itself is quite simple and the results, so far, are beautiful. Can’t wait for the finished project!

We stopped in this really great place called Chatterbox Cafe to have some lunch. I adore the two sentries on either side of the door.It is in Pugwash. Delicious food, books and free internet....what more could a traveler ask for?
Pugwash is an interesting little place. It has a bright spot in the history books. Home to the Thinker's Lodge. Where the first of the Pugwash Conferences was held
The
first meeting, was held in 1957, here at the birthplace of the American
philanthropist Cyrus Eaton, who hosted and financed the meeting. 22
scientists from around the world attended. (seven
from the United States, three each from the Soviet Union and Japan, two
each from the United Kingdom and Canada, and one each from Australia,
Austria, China, France, and Poland). The stimulus for that gathering was a manifesto issued in 1955 by Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein --
and signed also by Max Born, Percy Bridgman, Leopold Infeld, Frederic
Joliot-Curie, Herman Muller, Linus Pauling, Cecil Powell, Joseph
Rotblat, and Hideki Yukawa -- which called upon scientists of all
political persuasions to assemble to discuss the threat posed to
civilization by the advent of nuclear weapons . These meetings still go on today.
A basic rule is that participation is always by individuals in their
private capacity (not as representatives of governments or
organizations).
In 1995, fifty years after the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and fifty years after the signing of the Russell-Einstein Manifesto, the Pugwash Conferences and Joseph Rotblat were award ed the Nobel Peace Prize jointly. "for
their efforts to diminish the part played by nuclear arms in
international politics and, in the longer run, to eliminate such arms".
The Norwegian Nobel committee hoped that awarding the prize to Rotblat and Pugwash would"encourage world leaders to intensify their efforts to rid the world of nuclear weapons".
In his acceptance speech, Rotblat quoted a key phrase from the Manifesto:
- "Remember your humanity".
