My son is getting ready to go to PortCon, an anime/gaming convention in July. This is the first time he will be cosplaying, and he didn't pick an easy one. This is the character he is going as:
Damon Gant, the chief of police from the game Phoenix Wright. We're doing pretty well pulling all the pieces together. So far we have:
1. White cosplay wig on its way from Japan,
2. White linen suit jacket (have to get orange dye and cross our fingers),
3. Dark pink sunglasses,
4. Red silk kerchief,
5. Dress shoes and socks,
6. And a couple of collared golf shirts to wear under the suit jacket (he'll be there a couple days, nuff said).
Now we need to:
1. Dye the suit jacket,
2. Find pants to match or go with the jacket,
3. Get custom buttons made (hello, Etsy!)
4. Make the black cuff bands and breast pocket trim.
5. Get black gloves,
6. Funniest of all, get a white weave piece for my son's beard!
7. Style the white cosplay wig (wish me luck, I'll need it!).
Thank goodness we have until July. I'll be posting lots of photos once the cosplay costume is done.
From pinktentacle:
Each year, farmers in the town of Inakadate in Aomori prefecture create works of crop art by growing a little purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed tsugaru-roman variety. This year’s creation — a pair of grassy reproductions of famous woodblock prints from Hokusai’s 36 Views of Mount Fuji — has begun to appear (above). It will be visible until the rice is harvested in September.
Aren't there sheep in Japan?
Flocks of sheep were imported to Japan and then sold by a company called Poodles as Pets, marketed as fashionable accessories, available at $1,600 each.
That is a snip compared to a real poodle which retails for twice that much in Japan.
The scam was uncovered when Japanese moviestar Maiko Kawamaki went on a talk-show and wondered why her new pet would not bark or eat dog food.
She was crestfallen when told it was a sheep.
Then hundreds of other women got in touch with police to say they feared their new "poodle" was also a sheep.
One couple said they became suspicious when they took their "dog" to have its claws trimmed and were told it had hooves.
MoreIt's too bad all those people got cheated out of their money, but it is pretty funny.
